How Lacey and Larkin Are Breaking the Cycle of Anarchy

June 12, 2018

Have you ever heard the story of Jim Larkin, Michael Lacey, and Jim Arpaio and how the three met? Well, it is an interesting story, only that Larkin and Lacey are the heroes and Arpaio the devil incarnate. Joe, who turned out to lead Maricopa County sheriff’s department for twenty-four hours, is the worst of them all.

As the story goes, Joe joined the county with guns blazing. While campaigning, Joe had insisted on transforming Maricopa for the better but little did the residents of the county know that Arpaio’s plan was to target Latinos and immigrants all along. Learn more about Jim Larkin and Michael Lacey: and

Sections of the public had time and again opposed Joe’s uncouth behavior and even dictated his terms of operation. Unfortunately, Joe Arpaio never took any of the allegations lodged against him lightly and so he took to the corridors of justice for legal protection.

The pressure kept piling on Arpaio and his department and it is in 2007 that the county boss did the unthinkable. Joe sent his officers to arrest Jim Larkin and Michael Lacey on one dark night because they had disclosed some vital information on an on-going jury inquiry. It is only later that it got discovered that Lacey and Larking who are journalists have uncovered some truths about Arpaio.

Recall, the arrest of Jim and Michael was unlawful and so they had to take the county to the task. Years went by without any success but 2013 came the breakthrough. The court had ruled in the duo’s favor and even granted them a settlement amounting to over three and a half million dollars.

The Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund came shortly after and has gotten used by Jim and Michael to support other organizations fighting for the rights of immigrants in Arizona. Jim and Michael’s organization has become a beacon of hope to people and communities that felt left out for decades.

Michael and Jim, through the Frontera Fund, have been doing anything and everything to ensure that individuals like Joe Arpaio have their day in court. Indeed, their efforts are paying off as Arpaio, before his presidential pardon, was a resident of the prison’s system. Therefore, there is some truth in the notion that justice delayed is not justice denied.

President Trump, after releasing Joe has caused a significant stir in Arizona, but the likes of Lacey and Larkin remain unshaken. The duo is back to what it does best, active journalism.

These two individuals not only want to restore sanity to the many institutions in Arizona but also want to prove to the world that anarchy is easy to conquer provided that there is a lot of unity and a level of commitment to the same. Read more: Jim Larkin | Twitter and Michael Lacey | Crunchbase

Lacey and Larkin under detention after arrest by the FBI

May 31, 2018

Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin are back to the headlines. This time not for Arpaio or any human rights related issue but because of an arrest that has been made. The two veteran journalists were in April arrested by the FBI and are now facing multiple counts of money laundering.

When news of their arrest broke out, it was highly anticipated that they would be charged with “sex trafficking” but this did not happen. The official charge sheet released by the department of justice show that they will be facing 93 counts among them money laundering but there is no charge for sex trafficking.

Activists led by the wife of former presidential aspirant John McCain have been critics of the website operation terming it as a platform where Lacey and Larkin encourage “sell children for sex.” Cindy McCain was pleased with the swoop done on the owners and offices of an even seemed to be aware of more details about the reason for the arrest immediately after Lacey and Larkin were arrested.

The arrest was made by the FBI in a swoop that also involved searching their houses and offices. A few other employees of the firm were arrested and will be charged alongside the two journalists. They will go to trial in June. Learn more about James Larkin and Michael Lacey: and

Michael and Jim have been critics of government agencies and government officials who fail to observe the rule of law. They were critics of John McCain presidential ambitions and described him as a hypocrite.

The McCain family now seem to be celebrating the arrest and according to the Front Page Confidential, there is a high chance that they have a contribution to the arrest.

Front Page Confidential is a new website that Lacey and Larkin launched in 2017 and is going to focus on the First Amendment issues. The arrest seems to be an attempt to shut them up.

According to their lawyer, it goes against the law and constitution to deny people the freedom of speech which is guaranteed by the constitution. Even as they face charges, they see the hand of an oppressive regime trying to take back the gains made in guaranteeing the people freedom of speech.

Lacey and Larkin are human rights activists who have a foundation known as Frontera Fund which deals with funding the operations of other human and immigrants’ rights organizations in Arizona. The two are particularly concerned about the treatment of the Latinos immigrants.

This group of minorities has been a target of unfair treatment by the authorities for a long time. In Maricopa County, the former Sheriff Joe Arpaio administered over the worst treatment of immigrants families in the county. Hundreds of them were tortured and even killed in concentration camps he had established to deal with illegal immigration.

Phoenix New Times

February 6, 2018

In response to President Donald Trump’s recent pardon of Joe Arpaio, the controversial ex-Sheriff of Maricopa County, the former heads of the Phoenix New Times, Jim Larkin and Michael Lacey, recently spoke out admonishing the decision. This proves to be a continuation of the longstanding feud between “America’s Toughest Sheriff” and the newspapermen.

It was ten years ago this fall that Sheriff Joe Arpaio had Jim Larkin and Michael Lacey arrested at their homes in response to a release of information in the Phoenix New Times regarding a grand jury that was said to be investigating them. When speaking with the media, Jim Larkin unleashed a furious take on President Trump’s decision, labeling it the “perfect marriage of two corrupt individuals.”

Over the course of his 24 year reign, Joe Arpaio initiated or participated in a number of horrific incidents and human rights violations, including implementing the infamous “tent city,” which he referred to as a concentration camp, as well as the misappropriation of over $100 million in funds, and the harassment of countless Latino men and women, which ultimately led to the $70 million Melendres v. Arpaio class action lawsuit.

Jim and Michael clashed with Sheriff Joe Arpaio on a number of occasions throughout his career due to their exposure of his crimes in their Phoenix New Times newspaper. During his final run for reelection, Joe Arpaio was unsuccessful, and it is speculated, that due to his acknowledgement that the end was near, he endorsed Donald Trump during his candidacy; a move that was thought to be foolish due to the fact that he was not considered to be a real contender, but one that ultimately paid dividends for the former Sheriff of Maricopa County.

Jim Larkin, when speaking to the media, discussed the fact that he always knew that he and Michael Lacey’s battle with Joe Arpaio would escalate to a level exceeding a simple back and forth due to the fact that their reporting made them a “constant thorn in his side.”

Jim Larkin and Michael Lacey started the Phoenix New Times in 1970 in response to the Kent State Killings, as well as the overall conservative nature of the reporting found in the major news outlets of the time.

At the time of the inaugural issue, Jim Larkin and Michael Lacey had already dropped out from Arizona State University, and with Jim Larking acting as Chief Executive Officer, and Michael Lacey acting as executive editor, they quickly began building their Phoenix New Times brand, eventually expanding to a massive 17 publications that would stretch from coast to coast in the United States.

In 2013, after a legal battle with Maricopa County that spanned several years, Jim Larkin and Michael Lacey won their lawsuit and were ultimately paid $3.75 million; the proceeds of which they used to create the Jim Larkin and Michael Lacey Frontera Fund.

Today, the duo has moved on from the massive empire they built with the New Times, and have begun focusing their efforts on their new publication entitled Front Page Confidential.
